All abstracts will  be available on the Congress App.  All accepted abstracts, whether for oral presentation or an e-poster, will be published online on the BJS website (citable).

Audio-Visual Requirements

We can confirm that each oral presentation should have a maximum of 4 slides including your Title Slide.

All presentations throughout the Congress are expected to be delivered using PowerPoint on the laptops provided by the venue.  The laptops will be using Windows 10, with PowerPoint 2016. Please note that the screen ratio is 16:9.

The deadline to submit presentations is Wednesday 1st May 2019.

The file name of the presentation should be formatted as follows:
Speaker Name, Presentation Date, Presentation Time, Room Name
(For example:  John Smith 7th May 1030 Ironbridge 3).

Video clips should be in either MPEG, AVI or preferably MS WMV format for PowerPoint (MPEG, AVI or MOV for Keynote), other formats cannot be guaranteed. Please ensure you send or bring the videos as separate files, we cannot guarantee an embedded video will play.

Presentations up to 10MB can be emailed as an attachment to, presentations larger than 10MB should be sent using a file transfer tool such as   Please email the fileshare link to

Please bring a copy of your presentation on a USB stick as a back up.

Checking/Updating your presentation

On arrival, once registered, please visit the speaker preview room to check (or update) your presentation.  This should be done at least one hour prior to the start of your session.

It is important that your presentation is checked.  The technicians in the speaker preview room will arrange for the materials to be transferred to the room in which you’ll present.

Presentation preview staff will instruct you on the use of the audio-visual control set up within the session halls.

On the lectern you will find a slide forward/reverse handset, a comfort monitor and laser pointer.

Withdrawal from the programme

Failure to present an accepted abstract will be taken seriously. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, an abstract has to be withdrawn, please notify Carol McNair immediately.

All authors who have abstracts accepted for the Congress are encouraged to submit a manuscript at for consideration for publication in the BJS.
