Health care professionals working with the police to reduce street crime

It is known that for targeted policing to be effective, forces need to be in possession of data indicating precise location and time of violent incidences as well as weapon use and injuries sustained. It is the aim of the Cardiff model of simple anonymised data sharing between the Emergency Departments and Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships to initiate a nationwide standard where violent offences treated in A&E also appear in police statistics.

These documents show how Emergency Departments can contribute effectively to violence prevention, enhancing efficiency of targeted policing significantly and reducing overall A&E violence related attendances.
