It is a great pleasure to invite you to the Association’s 2016 International Surgical Congress entitled ‘Surgery in the Digital Age‘. This theme was chosen to recognise the growing and important influence which Digital Technology is having on the delivery of modern surgical services.
It is a particular pleasure for me to bring the Association back to Belfast after an absence of 35 years. When we were last here in 1981 Belfast was a very different place. In recent years the political climate has changed and Belfast has been transformed into a vibrant city. It is therefore a great opportunity to bring the annual scientific meeting back to my home town where you will all see the enormous changes for the better.
2016 is a particularly important year for Belfast and Ireland. It marks two significant 100 year anniversaries. In 1916 the Easter Rising in Dublin eventually led to the formation of the Irish Republic and, in the same year, the Battle of the Somme claimed the lives of thousands of Irishmen from Belfast and all over Ireland. You will have a chance to hear more about this during the meeting.Read More →
Abstract submission is now closed!
ASGBI operates a paperless electronic abstract submission system. The system enables the surgical community to “copy & paste” abstracts (including tables and special scientific characters, but not figures or diagrams) directly from word processing software into the abstract template provided, facilitating quick and easy abstract submission.Learn more →
